It’s the holiday season, do you know how I know? We’re CCCCCrazy busy. Shelter is doing ok with the current numbers, but the flu that is being passed around like stuffing on Christmas is really, really difficult. It seems to hold on to the ones who are most vulnerable and I’m making 10-15 bowls of soup per night trying to keep them stable. I know some of the bigger shelters are saying… What? ONLY 15 bowls of soup? I have to say normally it wouldn’t be a big deal, but I have a project that is due Friday and I’ve needed to stay in the office at  least 1.5 hours extra per evening. Monday I was in until 11-ish PM. This week Bill and I both have huge projects due, parent teacher conferences, and the pipes burst at the old house! Nothing we can’t suffer through, but it just eats away at the evening. 2 hours of shelter work minimum doesn’t leave a lot left for domestic chores or family time, let alone 15 bowls of pureed meat soup.

Luckily the Petco Foundation’s donation of litter has kept us from needing to do litter runs to the store and we’re still doing ok with food. We are using 46.6 lbs of food for every 13 days.. it averages out to be 107.5 lbs/month.

We were hoping to get an information booth set up at Petco during the holiday season, but we hadn’t had any people who could follow through with doing one. If someone is interested in volunteering 2-3 hours to sit with some ferret information, please contact us. These guys need some homes!
