Updates & Future Travel
Monday, July 31st, 2006Well Bill and I had a nice vacation in Vancouver, BC for some much needed R&R. The shelter did ok while we were gone, but before we left our oldest girl Angel was looking really poor. She was really pale and at her age, we knew it was time. It wasn’t exactly the way to leave for a week, but at we can’t say it was a surprise or anything. When Grandma is 105, you don’t really say “what a shame.”
Anyway, we came back, caught up on chores (ok we’re STILL catching up on chores) and had 4 ferrets go home this past weekend. We’re under the 20 mark again, but it won’t last long. Chris in Oregon City has 150 ferrets with more trickling in every day. The 6th of August Cathy from QCFR, Chris from the Oregon Ferret Shelter and possibly Ferret Haven of Spokane and us (can’t forget us!) will meet in Pendleton, OR. It works out to be a 3 or 4 hour drive one way for all of us. It’s the ferret hub!
QCFR will take 10, Beth from The Ferret Cubby will pick up 8 from us the next day and then we’ll be taking at least 11. Of the 11, five will be ~1 year old privately-bred late-alter females. They should get adopted quickly for sure. We’re hoping to move at least 25-30 ferrets out of Oregon City to help them regain their sanity!
On top of Oregon City’s usual shelter ferrets, former PFSN president Roxanna ’s ferrets are staying there while she is in the hospital. As Chris puts it, she’s busy with mouths to feed and butts to wipe.. at least she isn’t busy with mouths to wipe and butts to feed.
We have more adoptions pending in the next few weeks. We hope they will come through. There’s lots of love in the cages upstairs.. just waiting patiently.
Rotation time… Ciao.
