Zamzows Pet Expo is over

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

September 9th Bill, Sandon and I headed over to the fairgrounds for the Pet Expo. It really wasn’t much of an expo at all, but more like Zamzows big warehouse clearance sale. They didn’t provide much in the way of product for ferrets at all, nor cats for that matter. I thought that was odd. They sold animals they didn’t have supplies for and the shelters who have great supplies weren’t allowed to sell anything at all.

We did manage to talk to a few people and give out some cards. Exposure is nice, but it would have been nicer if we had some Ferrets for Dummies books to offer the Dummies buying baby ferrets without any supplies! A friend of mine saw some teens with a few ferrets outside in his neighborhood. They told him they got them from the expo and that they took one back because it was ‘psycho’. I was pretty sure the psycho ferret was the cinnamon wardenburg ferret who was probably deaf due to the obscene white markings all over it. Ah…  Zamzows.

We will see if we get any calls or email from folks who met us there. If we receive no feedback then next year we won’t be going. We screen people at the shelter to ensure they know what they need for ferrets, I can’t stand watching stores sell animals without even a basic care sheet. Just a cardboard box with holes and send them home!

On another note, I am slowly getting ready for the upcoming ferret show in Coeur d’alene. Bill and Sandon are staying in town and my friend Gwen will be going with me to help out.

Shelter seems to be holding steady in the mid-twenties for ferrets here. Lots of young ones. It baffles me that we have so many easy-to-adopt ferrets and they are just hanging out here. Such is life.
