EFS - Adoption rate increase effective 1/28
Sunday, January 27th, 2008After compiling our numbers (we’re almost finished) we have decided that we can no longer keep adoption rates steady. We’ve held them where they are for 5 years now while inflation, shipping costs, and everything else has risen in price.
We set the current adoption fees in 2002 — when gas was $1.11 per gallon and our house’s assessment had yet to triple in value. Before the electric company raised its rates 20% and shipping costs rose. This year, things have caught up with us and we need to raise fees slightly.
Our new formula for adoption fees are as follows:
Per Home for healthy ferrets under 4.5 years old:
First ferret $75
Second ferret $65
Each additional ferretĀ $55
Ferrets over 4.5 are $50
Ferrets over 5.5 are $40
Ferrets with medical issues are still on a sliding scale based on care and need.
Our year-end review will go into the details of cost increases of supplies, etc, but we wanted to officially let the public know so there are no surprises.
