Volunteer Day and our Great Volunteers
Saturday, November 28th, 2009Today we had a shelter volunteer day. With over 70 ferrets and a transport still in the works, we needed help to keep everything up to par. Luckily we’re hanging in there pretty well. Petco Foundation’s donations arrived so we have litter for a while and food to keep these hungry guys eating well. Today we cleaned litter boxes, play pens, did food, water, medication and “soup” for old/sick like we usually do daily. Normally we can get one or two extra things done like folding laundry, or do one-two racks of cages nail trims. Today with the help of 4 adult volunteers and two great kids, we accomplished: Detailing of two cages top to bottom, bedding changes, dirty equipment clean, all water cups washes, all ferret tornails cut (Yes, ALL!), gave the dirtiest ones baths, moved in all the donated supplies, washed and put away 3 loads of laundry, swept and vacuumed and some other misc. odd and ends. All of this from about 12:30 to 3! It was awesome and everyone works together really well.
