JD has had a hard life. We don't know anything of his past except that he was offered for free on craigslist and picked up by a family excited to have a healthy, happy ferret. When they realized he was neither of those, they brought him to us so we could properly care for him. He certainly is not a new ferret owner's ferret. JD is blind, has adrenal disease, has a broken tail from old injuries, has neurological damage from trauma or most likely a brain/spinal tumor, can barely walk and thus has difficulties with the litterbox. He is however, cuddily, sweet, loving and enjoys being carried around as long as possible. He's the type of ferret who you could have sit in your lap for hours, or allow you to pet him all day. Even though his body has had better days, you can feel how appreciative he is to be loved. It is really remarkable, and so is JD. JD is a hospice boy and needs a home where he can be away from other ferrets and animals (he can't see them and really gets nervous) until he it is his time.

UPDATE: JD's condition is improving! He is gaining more mobility as his muscles get stronger, he uses the litterbox in his cage now and can hold himself up while he uses it. He's put on weight, is no longer jaundiced and the Melatonin implant is making his hair grow back! JD is also getting used to having other ferret smells and sounds around. He is going to hang on for some time we think! :)
